FROM THE COUNCIL |
See You at AirVenture Oshkosh 2023! This is our last issue before we make our way to Oshkosh! As a kick-off for the week of never-ending fun, I'd like to invite all Canadians, whether you're camping under the wing or in another camping area, to stop by our Little Canada camping area anytime after 5:30 p.m. for a BBQ Meet n' Greet.
We have great Canadian presenters lined-up in our Canadian Pavilion. We'll have a different look, but will be located in the same location the Canadian tent has previously been, right next to the International tent. Be sure to stop in the main Wearhouse to check out the debut of our EAA Canadian swag. Whether you're flying or driving, travel safe. Don't hesitate to reach me at chair.eaacc@gmail.com if you have any questions. See you there! |

AVIATION WORDS |
Aviation Word of the Month – MaydayMost of you probably know this since we’re a bilingual country, but for those who don’t, the word mayday comes from the French word for “Help me” — m’aidez and for those of you who struggled with French pronunciation in school, don’t think about it. Mayday sounds exactly like m’aidez.
If you haven’t fallen asleep by now, you might also be interested in a tip for remembering which letters at the end of a word are not pronounced in French. I was taught a simple rule — the consonants in the word “CAREFUL” are the only ones normally pronounced at the end of a word. Donc, soif, etc. but not the Z in m’aidez! |
