🤖 OpenAI Launches Free ChatGPT iOS App

OpenAI is on a roll with back-to-back ChatGPT announcements. Hot off the press is the official ChatGPT iOS app, with promises of an Android app coming soon.

But that's not all. The free-to-use ChatGPT app comes packed with extra features that outshine its browser version.

For starters, it incorporates Whisper, OpenAI's speech-to-text model. Say goodbye to the hassle of typing – ChatGPT just said “Cya 👋“ to Siri. Additionally, they've added a handy history search bar, so you can quickly locate and review all your old chats.

The app is only available in the US, but they plan to roll it out to other countries shortly.

Considering ChatGPT's skyrocketing popularity (100 million users in just a couple of months), it was only a matter of time. And the best part? We can finally say RIP to all the ChatGPT knock-offs littering the app store.

Ⓜ️ Meta Reveals Their Custom AI Chip

Meta just revealed plans to create their custom chip, the Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA), specifically designed for running AI models.

Promising more computing power and efficiency than standard CPUs, the MTIA could be massive for Meta, especially considering the increasing demand for AI computing power.

Alongside this bombshell reveal, Meta also announced their vision of designing a next-gen data center optimized for AI, and continued to hype their Research SuperCluster, claiming that it’s one of the world's fastest AI supercomputers.

While Microsoft and Google fight for AI supremacy, Meta has stealthily assembled an impressive AI arsenal. Stay tuned, the AI hardware wars have just begun.

🍎 Apple Bans Employees From Using ChatGPT

While most companies are going all in on AI, Apple seems to be doing the contrary. According to the WSJ, Apple just banned certain employees from using AI tools such as ChatGPT, with concerns of potential confidential data leaks.

This move, while understandable, seems a bit odd. OpenAI recently introduced a feature that allows users to turn off chat history, which prevents the AI model from training on that data.

Apple has been very cautious in their approach toward adopting and applying AI. This is a huge reminder that while AI has the potential to revolutionize how we work, we can’t overlook the need to protect sensitive information.
